Fort Owen State Park is just overflowing with history, as it was the site of the first permanent white settlement in Montana, first sawmill and much more. Many of the old buildings from the frontier days still exist, making it fun to explore and learn. A great picnic spot if you're into history is near the original 1841 restored chapel at the park. Surrounding it are some period structures. Source: https://www.thepicnicworld.com/best-picnic-spots/
