2. McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park

This state park is situated inside the Cascade Range and Modoc Plateau natural region, and is set in a gorgeous forest. It has five miles of stream and lake shoreline, including Lake Britton, and amazing hikes.
There is also the gorgeous 129 foot Burney Falls waterfall that alone is worth the trip. The campground is also very nice, with a beach, boat ramp, camp store and more.

This is a gem of a location and RV resort park with all the amenities imaginable. Super for convenience, even direct access to the sands of the Pacific Coast and a bridge that connects the RV park to the quaint little Central California town. Full hook up, clean hot showers, onsite restaurant, camp store, picnic tables at each site and so much more. Hiking, biking, wine tasting, shopping, great restaurants and more.

8. Lake Powhatan Recreation Area & Campground
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Phyllis KhareLocated about 10 minutes from Asheville, this campground is convenient for those that like to enjoy both natural and cultural attractions. Hike in the morning, and enjoy dinner out in the evening! Having the best of both worlds makes this one of the best RV campgrounds in NC mountains!
The campground is located in a heavily wooded area, along the banks of Lake Powhatan in the Appalachian Mountains. At an elevation of 2,200 feet, there are nearby mile-high peaks, thick forests, and gorgeous waterfalls.
Lake Powhatan has something for everyone! Families can enjoy a nearby lake featuring a sandy beach. Anglers will love fishing for trout on the lake or in the nearby French Broad River!
Lake Powhatan provides visitors with boat rentals during the summer season (Memorial Day to Labor Day). However, personal watercraft is prohibited.
The forest boasts many hiking and mountain biking trails near the campground. The summer offers visitors interpretive programs if you are interested.
The campground itself is set up with four loops. Each campsite comes with a picnic table, fire ring with a grill, and lantern post. Some sites do offer RV hook-ups.
Campers can purchase firewood, ice and other small items from the small on-site store.

Some say this is the most beautiful state park in Utah. Desert landscape with breath-taking canyons and cliffs. Amazing sunsets and sunrises. Dogs are permitted on the trails. 10. Sam’s Throne Campground

They have BBQ pits, fire rings, horseshoe pit, hiking trails, Wifi access, and television and telephone access.
15. Amish Country Campsite

Fran CrowIn the heart of the largest Amish settlement in the world. Close to Sugar Creek, Berlin and Kidron. RV and tent camping. Larger rigs may NOT fit. Dump station, water, electric picnic table, free Wifi, fire ring (with free firewood), great shower house with flush toilets. Owners are fabulous!

17. Oak Mountain State Park Pelham
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:John SOur very first trip in our RV. A shakedown trip, if you prefer. Good trip, nice campground, seems well managed, kept up, quiet. Very enjoyable, very glad we went there.
Country store = check in, has ice, propane, basic park maps. Some sites have sewer, also dump station at exit.

19. Davidson River Campground
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Phyllis KhareDavidson River Campground is open year-round. It is located about four miles west of the town Brevard, which is less than a one hour drive from Asheville. It offers camping and outdoor activities the whole family can enjoy.
Davidson River Campground is located in the Pisgah National Forest, which boasts an elevation of 2,150 feet.
The surrounding landscape offers mile-high peaks, thick forests with hardwood and conifer trees, and beautiful waterfalls. The access to the beautiful natural landscape makes this one of the best RV campgrounds in NC Mountains.
The campground provides several shaded loops with well-shaded campsites. It also has easy access to fishing spots, waterfalls, hiking trails, and other nearby attractions in the Pisgah National Forest.
The site itself is organized into eight loops, some adjacent to water. They come equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring with grill, and lantern posts. Hot showers and flush toilets available.
Campers can also purchase firewood or ice onsite, or rent bikes nearby, if needed.

20. Goblin Valley State Park

This park got its name because of the bizarre, goblin shaped cliffs, standing eerily here and there across the landscape. It is pretty amazing. The exposed cliffs reveal parallel layers of rock bared by erosion. Because of the uneven hardness of sandstone, softer parts of the rock eroded more quickly than harder layers, creating the Valley of Goblins. Some people compare this place to Mars. There is hiking, biking. disc golf, camping and amazing dark skies to enjoy.
This left behind the bizarre goblin shapes seen today. Water erosion and the smoothing action of windblown dust work together to shape the goblins
21. Grant Village Campground

22. Fort Pickens Campground
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Phyllis KhareFor overnight campers, the Gulf Islands National Seashore does maintain two developed campgrounds, one in Mississippi and one in Florida. Each campground offers water, grill/fire rings, restrooms, and picnic tables.
The Fort Pickens Campground is located near Pensacola, Florida. It has 200 campsites, ranging in length from 16 feet to 50 feet, and one group tent site. All sites have water, electricity, grills/fire rings, and picnic tables. Restrooms and dump stations are nearby.
