I walked away with Vin de Vie, Winemakers Selection Moscato and Winemakers Selection Muscat. It's been a while since I've enjoyed sweet and fortified wines this much ๐ท๐พ This palate of mine is always surprising me!

I can count on one hand the number of times I've been this satisfied with a tasting menu!
I could go on for a while here, so instead I'll mention a few of the highlights.
3๏ธโฃ The official first course โ summer sweet corn chawanmushi with mushroom and puffed sushi rice โ featured flavours and textures that bonded beautifully together, showcasing the idea of a complete meal in just a few mouthfuls.
4๏ธโฃ The second course โ tomato and koshihikari risotto, tigerella, fresh buffalo cheese and basil โ was smokey on the tongue with a soft aniseed whim throughout. If I weren't at such an upscale restaurant, I would've licked the plate!
7๏ธโฃ The palate cleanser โ Udder Farm vanilla yoghurt, Hungerford Hill verjuice granita and finger lime โ was tart with an ever-so-slight sweetness, playing a superb role.

Tonight, I'm stuffing my face with @bettys_burgers because, well, first and foremost, it's delicious, and secondly because my furbaby is spending the night away from home ๐
He had some pretty significant surgery today, so the vet wants to keep him in for observation.
Leaving him in the care of others โ no matter who they are โ never gets easier. I wish we had the option of staying overnight with them after big events like this. Heck, I'd even curl myself in that cage with him if I were given the option!
I'm lost without him.

I caught up with one of them for brunch this week: @tatyanaleonov. She is fierce AF. Most people will look at her and think everything has just fallen into her lap โ that life has never let her down. I'm one of the privileged few who knows this is far from true. I'm not going to go into it โ it's not my story to tell โ but I will share something she's been quite open about lately.
Her daughter Millie has been diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome. Thanks to a revolutionary medical trial, there's a chance for Millie to live what we would call a "normal" life โ but they need to relocate overseas to take part in it.
So, if you can spare any change, please donate to their worthy cause. Being involved in this trial will not just help this one wonderful family, it will also contribute to knowledge that will help others all over the world with this rare disease ๐

If you visit @meatdistrictcosyd, just order the Greek salad with a side of grilled chicken.
I originally ordered the beef medallion and asked if I could have the truffle mash instead of the fries, since the mash is gluten-free and the chips aren't. The waitress said I'd have to buy the mash as an extra side and just choose the salad as a side.
$45 for a steak and just a side salad?! Yeah right.
Then I asked if any of the burgers were gluten-free and the waitress pointed to the sweet potato burger and โ I kid you not โ said "Anything with the 'vg' next to it is gluten-free".
I then asked, fairly confidently, "You mean it's vegan?".
And she said "Oh yeah, vegan".

Last week, one of my best friends and I devoured a traditional Italian feast at La Ricette, Enmore ๐๐ท
It was absolutely divine, and the comfort food we both needed. You see, @tatyanaleonov's daughter Millie has been diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome.
This is the first I've ever heard of this rare condition, but it basically means little Millie may never be able to wall or talk, and that she will need full-time care for the duration of her life.
Thankfully, there are clinical trials that could CHANGE ๐ HER ๐ LIFE ๐ โ but they're overseas, so they need to relocate.
If you could spare a few dollars, it would be so appreciated by this beautiful young family ๐ If not, it would be great if you could please share the link with your family, friends and networks, to not just give others the chance to donate, but to raise awareness of Angelman.

I went to Campbelltown for my @pancakesontherocks__official pilgrimage (don't bother โ it's been replaced by a cardiologist centre). Oh, the irony!
Anyway, we went to @grilldburgers at @macarthur_square instead, then @thescoopartisangelato for dessert.
Did ๐ Not ๐ Disappoint ๐
Because I befriend everyone wherever I go (which I didn't realise until Ben spoke to me about it last year ๐), I ended up chatting to owner Mary, who โ at the age of 50 โ quit her corporate gig and travelled to Italy to learn the art of gelato-making.
Then, six years ago, she opened The Scoop with her husband, and has never looked back.
Each base flavour is gluten-free โ we just have to steer away from the ones with toppings, like the Tim Tam one. I devoured the one-scoop Caramilk and could easily have gone for another ๐คค

21. Sydney Motorsport Park
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Sarah FriggieriI want to send my deepest and sincerest appreciation to Chef Simon at Sydney Motorsport Park.
When he overheard me asking whether there was anything gluten-free at Paddock Cafe, he popped his head around to the front and said he could make a gluten-free burger for me!
This man went above and beyond, just to make sure I didn't go hungry (I clearly underestimated how hungry I'd be today when I "planned ahead").
He went to the other end of the track to source gluten-free bread rolls, upon returning asked if I liked lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese, and confirmed that the only extra ingredient in the beef patty was rice flour. And It. Was. Delicious.
Chef Simon, thank you, thank you, thank you! Thanks also to your super-friendly waitstaff team, who also made me feel like I wasn't an inconvenience at all.

22. Penrith Golf Club
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Sarah FriggieriThis may look like a delicious, innocent pizza, but it gave me my worst-ever gluten attack last night ๐ญ
To all restaurateurs, please, please, PLEASE don't have 'GF' on the menu if there's no guarantee it'll be gluten-free! For example, do not offer gluten-free pizza bases if the pizza toppings aren't gluten-free.
I don't even know what happened last night; how it all went wrong. Before ordering, I asked if the ham was gluten-free (because some aren't). The woman serving me said yes. My intestines later confirmed otherwise. I didn't ask about the pineapple, cheese or tomato paste, as I've never come across any gluten-filled versions of these. I requested the gluten-free base and I'm sure it was (it had the rough texture instead of the soft, fluffy one).
I will never again return to @penrithgolfclub. So disappointed.
I wish coeliac disease was taken more seriously.

You know what I'm constantly amazed by, though? The passion of the bestie, @the.7.cs. This is the woman who reinstated my passion for medium red meat all those years ago, but who is now a vegan activist. Everything she does is in pursuit of a greater life and wellbeing for all animals. I'm so bloody proud of her ๐

31. Gluten Free Pasta Di Casa

It has been literally decades since I've eaten fresh pasta โ and my first foray into this Sydney-based business did not disappoint.
I made a creamy sauce with mushrooms, red onion, garlic, vegetable stock, a little pasta water and parmesan cheese to accompany the olive and rosemary fettuccine ๐คค And guys, it went down a real treat. The pasta cooked in three minutes, and both held its own on my tongue AND melted in my mouth.
Ant and Steph, pretty please make Western Sydney deliveries a regular occurrence? Even once a month would work โ I'll just buy a stash then freeze it ๐

PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Sarah FriggieriThis is my fifth attempt at writing this post. I've been editing it for just over an hour now, with the Supercars on in the background, my boyfriend Ben beside me and my furbaby on my lap ๐ถ๐ As always, I've been writing from my heart, but today I'm afraid of offending those of you who are traditional mums.
But all of this thinking is doing my head in, so I just need to stop second-guessing myself and just go for a full-on overshare.
I was married for seven years (in fact, this coming Tuesday would've been our eight-year anniversary). My husband always knew he wanted kids, but I was unsure. I knew that as a woman it was what was expected of me, but I am โ and always have been โ a career woman. I believe it's impossible to excel at being a loving mother, a doting wife and a dedicated worker โ something would need to take a hit; I love working and I loved being a wife, so you do the math.
Thankfully, my family is very supportive of my big life decision; I got a 'Happy Mother's Day from everyone (including Ben's mum) and even a couple of gifts! They maintain that I would be a GREAT mum (and, if I'm being honest with myself, I know I would too). But I just use that as a driving force to instead be an AMAZING aunty.
In the second photo, you'll e-meet my precious nieces, Mila and Olivia ๐๐ I moved to the suburbs to be closer to them while they grew up (I often joke that I'll be home when they fight with their mums and need a place to stay while the dust settles, and that when they turn 18 we'll hit the clubs and I'll hold their hair back when they inevitably drink too much ๐).
In the third photo is four generations of la famiglia: my mum, my nanna, my sister and her daughter. I have so much love for my family โ I can't even explain it in words โค
So, here's to all the mums: the stepmums, the not-yet mums, the should-be mums, the aunty mums, the foster mums, the furbaby mums, and those without their mums.

Today, @sydneydragway cafรฉ was selling GLUTEN-FREE SANDWICHES ๐ฅณ There was a 'May contain wheat' statement on the back (๐), which I only saw when I went to open it, but I ate it and I was A-OK ๐ Must be made in a facility that also processes products that contain wheat. However, it's a big step in the right direction, if you ask me.
On offer were:
๐ฝ Herbed chicken, mayonnaise and cos lettuce
๐ฝ Chargrilled vegetables and pesto
There was also a Frozen Coca-Cola stand, so of course I washed it down with a large half-FroCo and half-FroRas ๐คญ

@daddysburgersnwings has become one of my favourite burger joints in western Sydney โ and is by far my favourite place to eat in all of Windsor.
Everything on the menu is either gluten-free or can be made gluten-free โ please just make sure you request it.
My regular will be the Cheeky Chick (second pic ๐), with buttermilk chicken, American cheese, house slaw, smashed avo, aioli and BBQ sauce (with extra sauce) ๐คค
The Cheese was nice too โ it's just that I love the idea of avocado on a burger ๐ฅ

PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Sarah FriggieriToday I celebrated the 60th birthday of the beauty in the third photo ๐ I was asked to make an impromptu speech, and my brain wasn't communicating very well with my mouth at the time, so I want to take the opportunity to express my feelings better here...
My first memory of @2hardmans8103 is from two weeks after I moved in to my house. I found a Christmas card in my letterbox, welcoming us to the street and wishing us a wonderful festive season โ it was from Karen and Kevin (with their street number in brackets, and a big smiley face next to it). I still have it.
Karen came in to my life as a neighbour, but then she became a friend and is now someone I call family โ and I now also consider her family my own (here's looking at you, @megisonfire, my adoptive sister ๐; your cake was spectacular, by the way).
I speak to her about everything โ my fears, my hopes, my dreams โ and she has stood by my side through some pretty tough times.
I love you so much, Karen โ cheers to your beautiful self today ๐

PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Sarah FriggieriApologies for the delayed @sydneyroyal_eastershow post, darlings โ I had to run from the grounds so I could get to @hamiltonaustralia before the proverbial curtain rose โญ
So I kicked things off with an almond latte, then a hot buttered corn with a tropical drink, then a fresh lemonade, then a GF hot cross bun, then another fresh lemonade... But the standout was this GF meat pie that I had to wait THREE HOURS FOR! (Totally worth it, BTW.)
๐ซ I'd say at least four-star mince was used to create a quality filling (by that I mean there were no weird hard bits that made you think you were eating misc meat), and the pastry was crisp and flaky at the top yet melt-in-your-mouth at the base. They also kept the GF goods in a separate warmer. Thank you @micksbakery ๐

Was interesting, though... When I ordered it from the all-day menu, the waitress asked the cook if she could still make it. At first she said no, but then she looked at me looking at her and gave in, explaining that at lunchtime she stops cooking the items that would be considered breakfast because it gets too busy ๐ค No table service, either, but my work laptop saved my seat while I went to collect my meal ๐
