Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument spans about one million acres. It is a vast stretch of desert with a white-sandstone mesa, with incredible views, natural bridges and even a 126 foot high water fall. Be sure to stop by visitor centers for an overview.

This park got its name because of the bizarre, goblin shaped cliffs, standing eerily here and there across the landscape. It is pretty amazing. The exposed cliffs reveal parallel layers of rock bared by erosion. Because of the uneven hardness of sandstone, softer parts of the rock eroded more quickly than harder layers, creating the Valley of Goblins. Some people compare this place to Mars. There is hiking, biking. disc golf, camping and amazing dark skies to enjoy.
This left behind the bizarre goblin shapes seen today. Water erosion and the smoothing action of windblown dust work together to shape the goblins
