LivinRVisionPalm Springs is where we headed for our maiden voyage and came back two years later to stay again during part of the winter. What a wonderful place to be for the winter months! As many of you know, Palm Springs is also home to Michelle's favorite coconut cream pie at Sherman's Deli! There are two locations in the Coachella Valley - one in Palm Springs, CA and one in Palm Desert, CA. The two main places we park our RV is Thousand Trails in Palm Desert and Palm Springs Oasis RV Resort in Cathedral City, CA.

2. Joshua Tree Visitor Center
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:LivinRVisionJoshua Tree National Park is a must visit if you are in the vicinity of the Palm Springs area. The map provided starts you off at the visitor center first, located on the west end of the Joshua Tree National Park - which is located only 42 minutes from the THOUSAND TRAILS in Palm Desert, CA. There are quite a few different beautiful campgrounds within the national Park. Plan for a long day as there are many trails with beautiful sites. Be sure to save your last stop for the end of your day, for a beautiful sunset at “Keys View”!

3. Palm Springs RV Resort
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:LivinRVisionThis campground resort is one of our favorites. We just LOVE all the palm trees in this resort with the hummingbirds and roadrunners frequenting your campsite.
- Allows big rigs.
- Full hookups.
- No extra charge for 50 amp.
- Pickleball courts, swimming pool, jacuzzi, horseshoes, activities.
- AT&T & Verizon both have good service with 4 bars and an average cell speed of 9 mbps download and 7mbps upload as of Dec 2019.

4. Wilderness Lakes RV Resort
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:LivinRVisionOur first stay at Thousand Trails Wilderness Lakes RV Resort, was in late summer of 2020. The campground has full hookups and everything worked as expected. AT&T and Verizon cell service worked well for us in our spot but we noticed that the signal varied throughout the campground depending on where you are. So be sure to do speed tests around the park before choosing your site, if you rely on your cell phone carrier for internet connectivity.
WARNING: There are eucalyptus trees throughout the park, so be sure to NOT park you RV or vehicle under these trees, as they release a sap that can and will etch the clear coating and stain your roof. This sap is extremely hard to get off! There are plenty of sites without these trees, so choose wisely.
The resort is a little dated as of 2020 but still is a great place to stay as it is in very close proximity to many attractions. The resort has many canals that make for a great place to set up camp, where you can sit back in your lawn chairs off the back of your rig and either fish or sit and watch the numerous frequenting ducks begging for food. :)
Overall, we were pleased with our stay and made many trips to San Diego, Temecula wineries, Palm Springs and numerous beaches from the Los Angles are and south. Oh yes...don't forget to stop at Julian Pie Company in Julian, Ca or right up the road in Santa Ysabel, CA. There's also, Mom's Pie House in Julian, CA that is supposed to be very good as well!

5. Julian Pie Company
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:LivinRVisionJulian Pie Company has some VERY good pies that "Pie Girl" highly recommends! 🤓 There are two locations, one in Julian, CA and one in Santa Ysabel, CA. They also sell whole pies that are frozen that you can take and bake.

6. Sherman's Deli & Bakery
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:LivinRVisionSherman's Deli is one of our favorite places to eat and the home of "Pie Girls" absolute favorite coconut cream pie ever! They also have the best Rueben's that we have ever had as well PLUS, they will substitute the rye with gluten free bread as well and is very good for gluten free! Hungry? Go for the triple decker and share - they are BIG!

7. Idyllwild Rv Resort Thousand Trails
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:LivinRVisionIdyllwild RV Resort is such a beautiful place to stay during the hot months of the summer. Peaceful and plenty of wildlife as well as the nearby fun little downtown area of Idyllwild is a great place to shop and eat at the numerous wonderful restaurants!
The RV resort has some areas that are tight to get into, but if you can get in the 200 section, you will have plenty of room and it has great cell phone service for internet speeds. Many areas of this campground has poor cell phone internet speeds, so be sure to do a speed test prior to picking your spot so you don't have to move to another site later.
We felt like the best route to take to get to Idyllwild, was coming in from Banning, CA. We did take both routes and had no issues with Vinny, our 40 foot motorhome at the time.

8. FERRO
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:LivinRVisionLooking for superb food and great ambience at a great price? Ferro was our favorite place to eat in Idyllwild and has one of the absolute best wood oven baked gluten free pizzas we have ever had! The back outside dining area is so beautiful amongst the tall evergreen trees and is such a great romantic place to go for an anniversary - just sayin'! 😁

9. Green Onion Mexican Restaurant
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:LivinRVisionWe went to The Green Onion Mexican Restaurant for Michelle's birthday in May of 2019. This place has very good Mexican food, great ambience as well as a serenade by a couple guys in their sombreros while you dine. Great experience!

Internet connection here was only tested with Verizon because we did not have AT&T at the time. We were able to work from this location without any issues.
We did not find any favorite food places in this area, but we did frequent the Farmers Market in San Louis Obispo (SLO) which has some good food and a lot of fun!

11. Soledad Canyon RV & Camping Resort
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:
Michal Ben-Arithis place is greatLivinRVisionThis is a Thousand Trails Resort that quickly gained the name..."Solitude" Canyon. This resort used to be a very nice place in it's day, but is in great need of updates as of the summer of 2019. We would advise checking with the campground to see if the updates have all been completed before making reservations. We were only able to test Verizon service at this time, because this was before we had AT&T service. We were able to work here with no issues in the upper level of this resort with no connectivity issues. Food in this area was average everywhere we went. Nothing to really recommend. We would avoid this area if you possibly can. You will thank us. :)
