Wendy WolfeThis is an easy hike for families and older folks. There’s a swinging bridge, waterfall, and a river. There are some shallow caves in the cliffs 1/3 of the way into the trail. Dogs on leashes are allowed.

2. Miller Springs Nature Center, Farm-To-Market Road 2271, Belton, TX
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Wendy WolfeWe took our granddaughter on an easy hike below the dam for Belton Lake. It’s just outside Temple, TX. The trail was missing a few signs, but the back wall of the dam is often in sight, so it’s easy to navigate! 😊
We took our two pups; dogs must be on a leash.
3. Lake McClellan Campground

DeAnne RietzThis first come first served USFS campground is peaceful and was not crowed on a Wednesday in July. Electric and water at a handful of sites and clean shower house. Only 5 miles off of I-40.

6. Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge
