We love this national park and are a little embarrassed to say we didn't know how awesome it was until we stumbled across it in 2016 on our way to Yellowstone. We actually liked this park MORE than Yellowstone, and can't wait to go back! The Tetons are INCREDIBLE!
This is was such a great place to experience vanlife. Copper Harbor is a great stop for experiencing the outdoors-hiking, kite surfing and mountain biking! It's also the "gateway to Isle Royale National Park."
The town itself is VERY small, but it is a great spot to get away and very welcoming to RV'ers.
There are a couple of good restaurants as well as a microbrewery in town.
I was driving from Dallas to Denver and wanted a scenic place to stop along the way and found Palo Duro Canyon State Park about 40 minutes away from Amarillo. It was a little bit further than I was expecting, but definitely worth it. I believe they call it the little Grand Canyon, and it definitely was beautiful. Most of the park was closed unfortunately when we went due to hunting season, so we would love to return next time we are passing through. We were still able to do some really nice hikes and take in some gorgeous views of the canyon!
We camped here overnight at a dispersed camping site the weekend before the 4th of July. There was only one other camper even remotely close to us. I had decent cell service and walking through the trees was very peaceful.
