4. Old Country Store
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:RV LifestyleThe Old Country Store is in the middle of nowhere. And it sure doesn't look like much. But the fried chicken made here is, arguably, the BEST FRIED CHICKEN IN THE WORLD. That's not just Jennifer and I saying that. So does the Food Network.
And it's evident a lot of people agree. The parking lot the day we visited was filled with vehicles bearing license plates from a dozen or more different states.
Crispy, fresh, moist, and flavored with secret ingredients applied with a lot of love from the owner, Mr. D, we have NEVER tasted chicken so good. And the side dishes, all locally grown and fresh, are all Southern specialties.

5. The Little Easy
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:RV LifestyleThis is a wonderful road trip surprise. A gourmet restaurant just a block from the Mississippi. We enjoyed everything here. Jennifer had grits encrusted salmon. I had a portabella mushroom melt.
And we both had the pansies.
But the signature River Water soup was a big surprise. There was no river water in there. That was just the clever name they chose for a light pre-lunch broth. But floating atop was a pansie. A flower.
But to die for was the bourbon bread pudding, drizzled in chocolate.
One of the best restaurants we have tried in a long time.

PEOPLE ARE SAYING:RV LifestyleThe Gulf Islands National Seashore is a 160-mile stretch of gorgeous and very secluded beaches. It is undisturbed by development and characterized by blue-green sparkling water.
So big is this property that it lies in two states – Florida and Mississippi – and is divided into 12 district areas.
The protected regions include mainland areas and parts of seven islands. If you count Alabama, the area is even longer. Some islands along Alabama coast were originally considered for inclusion, for some reason, they are not officially part of the national seashore managed by the National Parks Service.

PEOPLE ARE SAYING:RV LifestyleFor overnight campers, the Gulf Islands National Seashore does maintain two developed campgrounds, one in Mississippi and one in Florida. Each campground offers water, grill/fire rings, restrooms, and picnic tables.
In Mississippi, the Davis Bayou Campground near Ocean Springs, Mississippi has 51 sites. The sites are affordable and some sites can accommodate RVs up to 45 feet long. All sites have water and electricity. The bathhouse has restrooms and hot showers.
