Formerly the country estate house of William Pryor Letchworth, the Inn is located atop a cliff overlooking the
magnificent falls.
The Glen Iris Inn makes for a great spot for a midday meal. If possible, snag a table on the outdoor patio.

PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Phyllis KhareThe Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park consists of over 60,000 acres and contains the largest tract of old-growth hardwood forests west of the Adirondacks.
The State Park is home to black bears, deer, wolves, river otters, and even moose, as well as rare woodland plants that depend on the old-growth forest habitat that abounds here.
Visiting the virgin forests, free-fowing rivers and undisturbed beaches of the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness is like taking a step back in time. There are great hiking and mountain bike trails here and hundreds of waterfalls, secluded lakes, wild rivers, and streams.

PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Phyllis KhareFor the Lake of the Clouds you can drive straight to the overlook however if you hike a few miles on the North Mirror Lake, Big Carp River, or Escarpment trails the views are even better!
The park offers some great guided hikes, including this one. For a detailed schedule or to get directions, stop by the Wilderness Visitor Center, park headquarters, or either of the park campground offices.

PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Phyllis KhareHanging Rock State Park is one of the best RV campgrounds in NC mountains! Why? It has cool geological features and an abundance of outdoor recreation.
The 73-site campground located in Hanging Rock State Park can accommodate RVs, but there are no hook-ups. Although you would be dry camping, there are picnic tables and grills available. Drinking water and showers are available in the campground.
The park offers endless adventures: hiking, biking, mountain climbing, fishing, and so much more.

More info10. Southernmost Point of the Continental US
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Phyllis KhareAt the very bottom of the island, there’s a classic Key West landmark. The massive, brightly painted buoy that marks the Southernmost Point in the Continental United States!
From this point at the corner of South and Whitehead Streets, there are a mere 90 miles to Cuba.
The Southernmost Point buoy was erected in 1983 and although the line can be long to get a photo, it’s a landmark and must-see for any traveler to Key West.

PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Phyllis KhareFrom the Madison Campground, it’s about a 20 min drive to Midway Geyser Basin. This is a quick, compact boardwalk hike but it packs a punch in Grand Prismatic Spring.
If you’ve only seen one photo from Yellowstone it was probably Grand Prismatic Spring.
At 120 feet deep and 370 feet in diameter it is the largest hot spring in the US and the 3rd largest in the world.
Apart from its size, the Spring’s dramatic rainbow colors give it a surreal appearance.

PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Phyllis KhareFurther down the road and just before Old Faithful, there are two short boardwalk hikes with beautiful
features, Black Sand Basin and Biscuit Basin.
At Biscuit Basin you can enjoy views of Black Opal Pool, Jewel Geyser, and several springs but the real beauty is the deep blue hue of Sapphire Pool.
When you’re on the Biscuit Basin boardwalk, you have the option to complete the loop or continue on the trail for about another mile.
If you do, you’ll enjoy the terrific views of Mystic Falls!

PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Phyllis KhareWe highly recommend a hike to Mystic Falls.
The falls cascade majestically down 70-feet with two sections and over several steps. From the bottom of the falls you can also hike to an overlook where it feels like the entire Upper Geyser Basin is under your domain!
This hike is about 3.5 miles roundtrip. When we did it we were surprised by how winded we were. That’s because of the altitude.

PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Phyllis KhareAt Black Sand Basin you can view the Rainbow and Emerald Pools, as well as Sunset Lake.
The parking lots for these areas are quite small so you may have to park on the road or try to get in at non-peak times.

PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Phyllis KhareOld Faithful gets its name for its predictability, erupting on average 20 times a day which is every hour to hour-and-a-half.
When you show up, inside the Visitor Center you can find posted prediction times for when the next eruption will be so you don’t miss it!
There are thousands of visitors who come to see Old Faithful each day so if you aren’t a huge fan of crowds, try to come earlier in the day (before 10am) or later (after 6pm).

More info16. Upper Basin Lake
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Phyllis KhareOnce you’ve seen Old Faithful, don’t hop in your rig and leave!
You are now in Upper Geyser Basin which is home to more thermal features than anywhere in the world!
We would recommend taking the boardwalk to the right side of Old Faithful, up to Geyser Hill (where you can usually get a less-crowded view of Old Faithful) and then continue on the boardwalk past Grand Geyser, Beauty and Chromatic Pools, Grotto Geyser, Riverside Geyser, and all the way up to Morning Glory Pool.
You can then turn around and take the bike path back to the Old Faithful Visitor Center for a chance of scenery on your way back. It’s about 3 miles roundtrip.

This park got its name because of the bizarre, goblin shaped cliffs, standing eerily here and there across the landscape. It is pretty amazing. The exposed cliffs reveal parallel layers of rock bared by erosion. Because of the uneven hardness of sandstone, softer parts of the rock eroded more quickly than harder layers, creating the Valley of Goblins. Some people compare this place to Mars. There is hiking, biking. disc golf, camping and amazing dark skies to enjoy.

PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Phyllis KhareLocated in Montezuma County in southwest Colorado, this national park was once home to Ancestral Puebloans. They thrived for over 700 years living on the mesas and in cliffs spread throughout the park.
Climb down ladders to visit some of the favorites spots including cliff Palace. Take in the gorgeous views at Sun Point Overlook, or look at rock carvings at the Petroglyph Point Trail.
If you love history, you will love visiting this national treasure. It's the largest archaeological site in the United States!

More info20. West Thumb Geyser Basin Trail
PEOPLE ARE SAYING:Phyllis KhareWest Thumb got its name because Yellowstone Lake resembles the shape of a human hand. West Thumb is the large western bay that would be the thumb.
The most famous hydrothermal feature at West Thumb is a geyser on the lakeshore known as Fishing Cone. Early visitors used to joke that you could catch a fish in the lake and then dunk it directly in boiling water to make dinner.
Other interesting features include Big Cone, the deep turquoise blue Abyss Pool, and the Thumb Paint Pots.
The boardwalk is an easy 1/2-mile loop on the shores of Yellowstone Lake.
There are two short day hikes in West Thumb as well.
In the parking area, you can go to the left side of the geyser basin and pick up the trailhead for Duck Lake. It’s about 0.8 miles round-trip.
Across the road is another trailhead, this one for Lake Overlook. It’s about 1.5 miles roundtrip.
The Lake Overlook trail gains about 400 feet of elevation and gives you a commanding view of Yellowstone Lake and the distant snow-capped Absaroka Mountains.
