Foss Waterway Seaport uses our historic 117-year old Balfour Dock Building, docks and adjacent areas as a public facility, to celebrate the rich maritime history of the Tacoma community and the region through interpretation, education, and events that tell the stories of our collective past, present and future.
The Nordic Museum is an internationally recognized museum and cultural center where people of all backgrounds are welcomed to be inspired by the values, traditions, art, and spirit of the Nordic peoples. Dedicated to collecting, preserving, and educating since its founding in 1980, the Nordic Museum is the largest museum in the United States to honor the legacy of immigrants from the five Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.
The Northwest African American Museum (NAAM) is a place for all communities to learn more about the history, art, and culture of people of African descent. We produce enriching and thought-provoking exhibitions and public programs that foster lifelong learning. The Museum is housed in the historic Colman School building located in the heart of the Central District just above the I-90 lid overlooking Jimi Hendrix Park and majestic Mt. Rainier.
